SOMETHING ROTTEN! Jr.

In the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Something Rotten! JR. features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each with their own moment to shine. Don’t miss your chance to bring this history-twisting tale to your stage!

Show Dates

April 1-6, 2025 at the Genesis Theatre in Ladner. There will be no conflicts between show dates and the Studio West Dance competition schedule. As we are able to secure more information on show dates and details, we will pass along that information to our families.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be on Fridays from 430-630. Specific times will be announced closer to our start date. All cast members will not be called to every rehearsal unless we are working with all of them at once. Some will be voice rehearsals with our Musical Director Ann Matterson, or blocking and choreography rehearsals with Jyla. A rehearsal schedule and cast list will be provided to our cast members well before we start. Students will receive a script and music to work on and practice with.

Added Rehearsals

We will add 4 to 5 rehearsals on Sundays closer to the show tech week and opening. These details will be provided to parents in our rehearsal schedule.

Fees

Production fee is your tuition. Fees go towards show licensing, materials, music, instructors, costumes, alterations, set, props, rentals and much more!

Commitment

Accepting a role is a huge commitment and recasting can be very difficult when we aren’t given much time to re-audition. We depend on your child when they take on the role they’ve been assigned. There are no SMALL parts in Musical Theatre!
